First Night Cocktail
This looks creamier than it is, so don't panic. Actually, it's one of those deceptively boozy cocktails we all love so much.
First, a few words on the tangerine flavoured Van der Hum liqueur. It's a blend of five year old potstill brandy, wine distillate, tangerine peel, herbs and spices produced in the Cape winelands of South Africa where the extracts are sweetened with glucose and cane sugar syrup. Van Der Hum has a complex citrus flavour enhanced by fragrant, mild spicy notes with a mellow and sweet lingering spicy aftertaste.
2 measures Brandy
1 measure Van der Hum Liqueur
1 measure Tia Maria
1 tsp single cream
1. Shake the Brandy, Van der Hum, Tia Maria and cream together over ice.
2. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
3. Decorate with grated chocolate. I gave mine a bit of a boost with some pretty spicy chilli chocolate shavings.
